I KNOW - that sounds so prideful- and Dave teased me about that because I kept complimenting my own window...but anyone who's crafty knows that you can try something 100 times and not get it right, and then something will click and magically turn out how you would have wanted it to- if you had just been able to think of it!
That's what happened with this window. I scraped off the butterfly (which was really getting on my nerves), and painted some flowers and some dots and then a thin strip of these stripes- immediately I KNEW these stripes were it. I scraped off all the rest and filled in the stripes.
Then I went crazy and put a few stripes on all my kitchen windows...
Of course that led to other moose/muffin and mouse/cookie moments- and there it is- my dining room is completely changed!
It is clean and bright and perfect for spring. I took down the dusty curtains and probably won't put them up again until winter.
It feels like my soul does right now. Bright and crisp and a little sensitive to light - but in a good way. (OK, I'll stop now, I am not the one to wax poetically about my soul.. (I only do that to God and Dave)
SIDE TRIP- I started hanging the kids' artwork up in the hallway- I think we will eventually fill every bit of wall space here and I love walking through the hall of color and wonder.
Back to the kitchen/dining area.
The lamp has stayed white for so long, just waiting for inspiration. Inspiration came! In the form of the song Jesus in My Place (Written by Matt Papa and Jonathan Welch)
I have to remember not to be prideful about my window...but as Mr. Duffy would say, I am thankful it turned out :)

Beautiful!! I absolutely love the Be Happy painting!!
I see why you are thrilled about it... it's fantastic! It looks like it was made for those stripes and I'm a huge fan of stripes!!! LOVE it!
I love it! Looks beautiful from the outside too!! I love the dining room table moved...gives it a whole new look:). I really like how you have their art work displayed. I need a wall for that! I think they will realize how important their work is to you.
I really looooove that window!!! I don't think my wife would let me do that. ha ha Maybe I can do it on my windows at school?
Ok. I have to say that is my fav so far. WY to go...I love it when a project turns out just right. Colors are great too.
I lurve this window!
What kind of paints do you use? I may have to do some copy-catting. :-)
I love your window!! I think your dining area definitely looks more open and brighter with the way you changed it....very summery. Do curtains really make that much of a difference? Maybe I should take mine down. And I have had a plain lampshade I've been dying to write on for a while but can't decide what to write. Yours looks amazing!!!
I love it all. So inspiring!! :)
What can I say -- you're amazing! Love the window.
I love it! I love how you decorate your house...if I had an unlimited budget I would let you come in a run wild in my house! I think it is fabulous and totally you!
The window is absolutely amazing and I'm so glad you included the picture from outside. It's fantastic!
Oh SARA!!! I LOVE to look at all the FUN and personality of your home!!! You SO inspire me to be more FUN with my decor!!
You guys make such wonderful artworks! And yes, being creative inside your own house isn't such a bad idea. That window design you made is just fascinating and a sight to behold. I could only imagine how it would look when light passes through it and the color is reflected on the window.

I like your flavor of artistry, Sara! The new art design you put on your window made the room look happy and alive. Though plain white windows can make a room look pristine and peaceful, sometimes, we need a little color. And you have a lot of that! Haha! Congratulations!

Nice! Your kitchen looks so colorful. It looks like a day care center, which is a good thing, because your kids seem to be gifted artistically and the way you designed your house could stimulate their creativity.
