parties, parties

I love this man. Happy 42, Darlin :) :)

Just hanging out in the kitchen...

Last night we went to the Lego store for the middle child's 8th b-day. What is a birthday in the Mincy family without a visit to the lego store ?! :)

I have to say that the lego store is a little bright.......even for me............(just because yellow is not my favorite- now if the floor and ceiling and walls were orange or red, maybe it would be different)

Supper at the food court.

We are through with birthdays until Feb 28th- when our little girl (our baaaaaaaby) turns 5.

Just one more lego wall photo for fun :)

gorgeous illustrations

We found this gem at the library. Red Sings from Treetops...a Year in Colors. By Joyce Sidman. Illustrated by Pamela Zagarenski.

I am in loooooove with these illustrations.

The numbers, the colors, the shapes, and textures.......

I want to wear this outfit! Please, Pamela Zagarenski, please start designing clothes!

Wouldn't her line of tights + dresses be adorable?!

Can I live here? Please.

Here is Dave and me. What? You don't think Dave would wear the striped tunic and pants with a checkered scarf and crown? (opposites attract)

Here is a great interview with Pamela with lots of beautiful photos.

Our pastor preached an awesome sermon on Sunday. So convicting and the shot in the arm I needed. You can see it here- the title is: Jonah: More concerned about plants than people.

happy corner

I found a spot for my circle garland so I won't have to put it away with the Christmas stuff. I couldn't bear to put it away.

Want to see a happy, colorful, whimsical, kindergarten-chic home?! Please go visit my new friend, Little Mama, at Haven of Color. Here is a preview:

holly hobbie

There was a huge kids' consignment sale at our fairgrounds last week. Yesterday was half price day. I figured I could go between morning and evening church. I got there and saw the line and knew I had only 45 minutes to shop!!! (it took an hour and a half to stand in line to pay). Can you even imagine looking at a huge, fairground size arena with toys, books, clothes, educational materials, bedding, shoes, accessories, etc. all for pennies and knowing you had only 45 min!!!!!!!!!!?!?!?

It was like one of those prize shopping sprees. I sprinted through shoving people out of my way....(not really)...and to top off the frustration- I had to walk by the pink aisles because only our boys needed clothes.

I got what I needed and a few tiny extras like this Holly Hobbie book for 50 cents.

Why do I love Holly Hobbie- maybe because I have my own live Holly Hobbie doll............

or
Maybe because I would like to have an umbrella like this................

Or because I think I have been there myself.......

....even if it was 25 years ago.

friday nite bliss

The Less is More mantra is not for me..................I have decided that this wall will be a work in progress. I will keep a lookout at thrift stores and each time I find a red + white plate, it will get added to the wall! Or an embroidery hoop- that will get filled with red + white fabric and hop on the wall. ((more is more!))

(I could just strangle that thermostat)

It is fun to have a collection! Now I have 2 collections! The globes and the red + white plates.

Oh and then there is my scarf collection, and now my winter vest collection.............

and don't forget my fabric collection................

This is what I call a happy evening at the Mincy home....pizza, fire, movie, store bought blackberry cobbler in the oven, vanilla ice cream in the freezer..............
happiness.........

And after the pizza, cobbler, and ice cream I did this.

And I wore my new pink Goodwill shoes today!

The verdict is still out on whether the dog is cuter or the shoes are cuter................it is such a close one!

Hope your Friday has been happy.

hearts, flowers, and resources for the heart

There has been too much of this around here....my poor baby...she is hopefully on the mend.

We decided that painting would cheer us up!

The kids each got their own canvas and I told them to paint a heart. (we used acrylic paint)

Wish I got more photos of their paintings- the rest are mine.....the heart + fabric flower

Decoupage patchy heart (fuzzy photo)

Heart + paper + fabric flower

Speaking of hearts- Revive our Hearts is having a clearance sale. This book looks like a great one. Randy Alcorn is one of my favorite authors.

Mom Mincy told us about this series:
Nancy Leigh DeMoss interviews Josh Harris in 3 parts:
1- Your Children's Friendships
2- Better than television
3- Teaching children discernment
This is great stuff- very convicting and inspiring.

Also, a dear friend of mine told me about a Praying Parent daily calendar. I first heard about the praying parent from Sarah's blog...and a daily reminder would be great! I found used ones on Amazon for a few bucks. And then I saw these!!!! Praying Parent prayer cards!!!

I don't know about you, but I need all the help I can get.

inVESTment

I told Dave that the only reason I needed to go to Goodwill was to get a warm coat. I had been wearing my green vest everywhere/everyday...proof:

And I needed a coat so that my arms will be warm too. And I promised not to get any more junk that we do not need.

this is what I found..................................

;) OOPS! It was too cute to pass up. Who needs warm arms anyway?!?!

valentine's banner

The banner started out on the fireplace.....

It is as easy to make as it looks.....I cut triangles from an old book, taped hearts on them and folded each triangle over a piece of yarn and taped on back.

I have a confession to make:

Stripes are just as cute as polka dots and are taking over our house! (and my wardrobe, and the kids' wardrobe...even Dave likes them.....but that is another post)

I liked it better in the kitchen.

Tell me what you think of Valentines...do you decorate for it?

**(to my faithful and perceptive readers: Yes, I did already erase the wonderful Psalms 105 passage I had on that wall- I told you I have a problem! It all stared with the Fisher Price Little People doll house- I changed things around every single day and now I *think* that I live in a doll house- and I change things around at a whim. It may be a problem, but it is never boring :)
