This is my inspiration for the dollhouse playroom. These photos have been all over the web, and caught my eye the first time I saw them on ohdeedoh. You can see the original post here at Under the Sycamore.
The playroom did not turn out as cute as Ashley's original room. But my girl liked it and has since expanded on the ideas and filled the room with many more rugs and pillows and toys and furniture :)
The mirror (from the dollar store) turns into a full-length size for dolls.
We did not go out and buy anything..but I do have my eye out for some tiny paper lanterns...here I just used little tissue paper pom poms and fans and globes made from book pages.
You can see we started in on the red + white polka dot bathroom....it's all a construction zone! The dolls are taking cover in the closet...
Ok- so if you look at the very top photo, the inspiration photo, you will see the day bed made from a palette. I wracked my brain to figure out doll house version. This is what I came up with: a bench made from a yard stick hacked (sawed) in six 6" pieces and 2 blocks. I glue-gunned them together....closer look:
See what I mean by hack job? I am not good with a saw, but we sanded the rough edges, so all is good.
AND, I really wanted some tiny wheels at the bottom...I begged my boys for some lego wheels, and even offered to pay- in the end the wheels they had didn't work :(
Burlap rug, and a-b-c art made from stickers.
Happy playing, dolls! Hope you are happy with our makeover.
I have gone back and forth about painting this room a pale peach/pink...with wide stripes painted on the floor. What do you think? Leave it white or paint?
*********************************** How is the summer going for you? Are you keeping up with your Bible reading? It was tough on vacation- and now I am getting back into a good routine again. God has still been working on me in the contentment area!
I will not be content until I get this book mentioned in the video...;)
