Before I could change my mind- I squirted some chocolate brown paint onto a plate, grabbed a brush and just did it! Painted us a headboard. A whimsical, imperfect, wrought-iron-ish non-headboard headboard.
Dave has not seen it yet- he'll be home soon from a 3 day business trip (his business trips only have two good qualities- #1- it is good for business...and #2- it is good for me to get some projects done around the house...but it is not good for any other reason- I like him home with me.
I switched up the plates a bit and added the M and the frame/scrapbook paper.
I clipped up some of the cards that we have given each other over the years....some random photos...trying to make our room fun and cozy and more us. I am sick and tired of the "rules" you hear about decorating the bedroom in a calming way so that you will be able to sleep at night. I think that is different for each person. I have been trying for years to keep the bedroom uncluttered and sparse. It has never worked for us- it has always felt bare and not done. Now I feel like we can be comfortable in here and relax and enjoy our special mementos that celebrate us and our marriage.
I also painted a little birdcage up there....my daughter is very bothered that I have not painted the bird yet.
We'll see how Dave likes my headboard :) I have a feeling he will say that he likes it OK for now until we can buy a "real" bed.
What is your bedroom decorated like? Is it totally different from the rest of the house? Have you gotten it how you like it?
(I am linking to Beyond the Picket Fence and Bec's under $100 link party. This project was $0 - using paint I had on hand and shopping the house for fun accessories)
