valentine's banner

The banner started out on the fireplace.....

It is as easy to make as it looks.....I cut triangles from an old book, taped hearts on them and folded each triangle over a piece of yarn and taped on back.

I have a confession to make:

Stripes are just as cute as polka dots and are taking over our house! (and my wardrobe, and the kids' wardrobe...even Dave likes them.....but that is another post)

I liked it better in the kitchen.

Tell me what you think of Valentines...do you decorate for it?

**(to my faithful and perceptive readers: Yes, I did already erase the wonderful Psalms 105 passage I had on that wall- I told you I have a problem! It all stared with the Fisher Price Little People doll house- I changed things around every single day and now I *think* that I live in a doll house- and I change things around at a whim. It may be a problem, but it is never boring :)

My Grandmother's maiden name was "Valentine." Mary Valentine- isn't that pretty? Needless to say, I have always loved this holiday and it has always been more about family than romantic love.

My mother cooked a mostly red/pink meal and we got one present from her and candy from my dad. The gift was almost always a red shirt or red pajamas.

Even when I was single for a *long* time, my students made this holiday so much fun.

Yup. I am a big fan!

Cute banner. I liked the verses, but obviously they had to go if the banner was there.

SO cute! I love Valentine's Day. My fave holiday to decorate for but I don't think this year I'll be decorating since we are in the middle of home renovations.

Love it! I put up a few little decorations, which reminds me I need to get them out! Thanks for the reminder :)

Two things I don't remember seeing before.....

The huge chalkboard above the mantle is AWESOME! Love the versatility of it. And if changing it every single day is what makes your heart sing, then so be it! At least it never gets boring, right?

Second, the mirror surrounded by paper? paint? in your kitchen is amazing. Love it!!! When we vacationed in Santa Fe several years ago I remember seeing lots of mirrors surrounded by brightly colored tiles. I still regret not buying one of those. Yours reminds me of that.

It's always fun to see what's new at your house!!

I love (am addicted to stripes) mostly in my wardrobe. And I do like to do a little decorating for Valentine's day and a lot of celebrating with my honey.

We don't really decorate for Valentine's but we might this year because I have a few ideas...
Oh and by the way....stripes have taken over my wardrobe too, I just realized this the other day as I took a good look at my closet! :)

I love the banner!!! I might just have to make one for myself.
Yes, I do decorate for Valentine's Day. As a Christian, I don't see anything wrong with celebrating love, in fact, what better thing to celebrate? I have been trying to make things for our house for Valentine's Day. Last year, I made something to hang from our light fixture in the dining room http://pippasmum.blogspot.com/2010/02/valentines-fun.html
This year, I am making a felt heart garland. I saw this idea online (http://www.made-by-rae.com/2010/01/easiest-heart-garland-evar.html) and then decided to adapt it. I will post pics on my blog if it turns out...

I love the idea of making bunting from book pages. I want to make a valentine's one with Shakespeare's sonnets! :) I'd love for you to link up to my linky party, Tute {Yourself} Tuesday!
