say yes to the apple tart

Ok- this is hilarious. My dear friend, Candace, got me hooked on the TLC show, Say Yes to the Dress. Have you seen it? It is on Netflix watch instantly- so I have been crafting and watching back to back episodes of this show where they showcase a bridal shop in NYC and the women who come to try on and hopefully find the dress.

I was so inspired I had to dig in the attic and find my wedding dress. And then try it on. Except that I couldn't zip it all the way up!!

So I went and made an apple tart.............

And ate it.
So easy- use a ready made pie crust.
roll out to 14"
butter the dough.
sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
peel and cube 2 apples.
pour cinnamon and sugar over apples (maybe about 1/3 c. of sugar??)
Stir and just make sure they are nice and coated.
Add apples to the middle of the dough in a single layer.
bring the sides up and over the tart- leaving the middle open.
bake at 400 for 20- 25 min.
let cool a little
drizzle with a glaze made of 1 c. powdered sugar and 2 T. milk.

Too funny, cousin! I don't even venture into the closet to look at my dress...I should take it out for the girls to see. Oh the comfort of anything apple!

My dress doesn't fit either, but that's ok. We are now mom's to beautiful children and wives to wonderful husbands so I will take that any day. I am cooking your apple tart as I type. Thank you for the recipe.

I LOVE that show!!! The girls and I drool over some of the dresses and get so frustrated with the "princesses".... I have not tried my dress on, I think it would not zip either! So, bring on the tart!

You are cracking me up!
I enjoy watching it on Friday nights on TLC. Now there is a version in Atlanta-it's fun seeing southern ladies.

Ellie is sitting on my lap and said, "Yay! It's a pin-cess!" I would need some spanx to get back in my dress. I think we *ALL* can safely say that having a kid or three will do that to a girl. ;)

Sara you are TOO funny! Say no to the dress and the shrinking zippers, and yes to the tarts. :)

My daughter and I love to watch that show, though I've told her that most normal people don't spend thousands of dollars on a wedding dress.

If you like the show, you should check out

It's a blog written by a wedding dress consultant. It's like the show w/o the video!
