thinking in color...........

My 8 year old told me that when he thinks about the months of the year, he sees them in colors. January is white, Feb = pink, March= yellow, ....I forget all of the months that he mentioned....I think August was green, October was orange, December was black.

I can totally relate to this! I see months in a certain color too- but my December is definitely forest green like a Christmas tree.

Also, I see the months of the year on a curving time line. January starts at the top left hand corner. Feb through May goes along the top and then the summer months start to slope down to the right until the fall months are going down like a ladder with December at the very bottom. So I see myself progressing along this time line throughout the year.

Are we totally crazy? Is there anyone else out there who visualizes their year- or who sees the months in color? How about the days of the week?

it has a name. Emily at Chatting at the Sky recently did a post on it. You aren't alone.

I have to ask: do you think of people in colors as well? and was it the middle child who said it? There were two artists at Wake Tech who did, and I've heard extremely talented musicians see colors when they hear certain notes. I associate certain colors with certain months, but I don't think every month has its own color. That's so cool, Sara!

this makes me smile because, just the other day, Steve told me he thinks in terms of temperature;-) for instance, he told me that thinking of sushi makes him cold;-)

maybe you all could get together for a conference;-)

in all seriousness, I watched a doc. once on this exact type of thing--and all of the people that they interviewed were major geniuses, if that makes you feel any better;-)

I think I used to think of colors as friends. I know I used to assign personalities to numbers. Six was really friendly, much nicer than big brother 7. This distraction may have been part of why I struggled in math. I think my downward slope begins in September tho. Imagination is a great thing!

I can't say that I see months in color, like you described. In fact, I hadn't ever heard of it, until I read this post from Chatting At The Sky:

Its not exactly the same as you describe - but I bet its related. Check out this post, too:

When I was a kid I had a fabric calendar on my wall. I still visualize the months the same way they were displayed on that calendar. I thought I was the only one who did that.

I think it is the artist in you. I think of colors as genders. Always have.

Boys: Blue, purple, yellow, black, white

Girls: red, pink, orange, green

Crazy or fun? :)

What a precious little guy to think of all that.. Sounds like a budding artist in the making... I used to always think I was born somewhere WAY out of my time zone.. Everything I think of is in colors.. I can not imagine life without it..

That is so stinkin' cute... and very creative, too. My niece recently told me that some numbers were boy numbers and some were girl numbers. Not quite sure what she was thinking there.

I do that too! I also think of people and places in colors. I think in numbers too. Like you are a 3 to me! My mom is 9, sam 8, luke 5, my dad 11. Also, EVERYTHING has a gender to me. Months, letters, numbers, etc. July is a boy! lol I know I am totally crazy....but I'm glad at least you and Wes are too :)
