thrift store goodies

my "new-to-me" polka dot shirt

I LOVE shopping at thrift stores! So much fun- you never know what you'll find- and what great deals! This past weekend I got about 8 things for $17. I can always find cute clothes- it just takes a little time. Time and hardly any money. So worth it, tho. I just don't have as much time to browse the thrift stores anymore like I used to. In high school and college I almost totally wore thrift store clothes- my wardrobe was mainly Ralph, Calvin, Tommy, Gap....at about 5% of the original cost! (I am trying to convince you to go into a thrift store and look around if you have never done it. But go with someone who has been there and don't be afraid to dig around and try stuff on!)

Shirt, bag, & leopard shoes average $3 each

I know some people don't want to wear used clothes- I have no problem with it {after I wash it}- hey, they are already broken in and shrunk if need be.....most thrift store clothes are in good condition, too- more than you would think. I think most people throw away ripped and stained clothes and take the rest to Goodwill.

polka dot sweater & the comfiest AE jeans ever- average $3 each

thrifted flower clogs!

Ok, so about 3-4 months ago I decided to go digging through the clothes at my local Goodwill. I was SHOCKED at what I found! I was using the GW for home decor items to make over ...but not clothes. I've found Gap, Ralph L, Liz C, AE, Lands End. Yep I wear them all! My work wardrobe has a 'new' look for mere pennies! Love your finds. My current obsession is purses. I posted 6 name brands found at Goodwill.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE thrift stores! My kids have always been dressed in brand names and now that they're older, they come with me and pick through the stuff looking for their own stuff ~ right now AE is their thing! It's the greatest!

You find the cutest stuff at Goodwill. Sometimes our Goodwill gets a little pricey and that makes me sad. :( BUT... I think Ellie and I will definitely go thrifting today!!

I do a good bit of shopping at Goodwill...I usually stop in once a week and I have found some good stuff. I found a new Michael Kors shirt and a lot of Coldwater Creek. One thing I have noticed though is the prices have creeped up slightly. Our store recently started charging $7.25 for jeans. Although that is not nearly as much as for a new pair, it is making me think twice before buying. We've had a real surge in people shopping at local thrift stores so I think they are starting to increase prices a little since the demand is greater. Our store is always very busy. Overall though it's still a fun way to spend a half hour or longer!

Wellllllllllll, yeah!
I am fortunate enough to be able to travel the world. When I go with girlfriends who are not such travelers I always say -- Whatever you find in Europe today will be one tenth of the price and waiting for you at the Thrift Store back home when you return. And you know what? It is!
Found a darling little figurine of a guard at Harrods (London) last week for $2.00. Love it!

I have shopped Goodwill, Salvation Army and any other trift shop for decades! Don't go looking for something specific, just go looking and see what you find. Just bought a Vera Bradley jacket a month ago, didn't buy the 2 Chico jackets and regret it. You either buy when you see or it will be gone if you go back.

The two richest ladies in the church I grew up in would always laugh when someone complimented their clothes and say "I got it at the Galleria" (the largest mall in B'ham at the time). After several years I found out their "Galleria" was their nickname for the Alabama Thrift Store and they shopped there every Tuesday morning.

Super cute stuff! I went thrift store shopping in February and walked away with 4 sweaters and a skirt for $20. I really LOVE everything I got and it was all like new...hardly worn. I always at least try the thrift store when I need something.

I love the things you found...what great deals! We love thrift store shopping as well, but not as much as garage sales! I can typically find better deals at garage sales.

We keep our Goodwill and ARC in business! Target and Sears drop off stuff every week, so we get new stuff! My husband loves it and reminds me of the sales...last Sat was $1 jean day!!! Since all of his pants "shrunk" over the past year, he was in luck. Sometimes we even make thrift store shopping our date-night!

Awesome finds! I love thrift-store shopping. Our Goodwill even has brand new Target items with the tags on! I think I need to go soon.

YES! The majority of the kids clothes and maybe 25% of ours. We even have a consignment store that sells my old artwork that i want to get rid of (I get a higher percentage than their clothes consignors) and so I usually try to make sure I have enough in my account for the change of seasons so that it feels like the kids' wardrobes are free!) I also do alot of goodwill shopping - more for frames and other objects to use in my artwork - but occasionally find good deals in the clothes when I have time to look!

Thrift stores are great, but there aren't any too close to me, so I don't get there often. I need to go to some soon.

LOVE THEM!!! We've gone on dates to the Thrift Store recently...just me, my hunk (who, btw, loves to buy thrift), and all those racks of clothes just waiting to be explored...what could be better??? LOL!

You have made me want to go thriftin!! I have no problem at all wearing someone elses hand~me~downs, but we don't have a good thrift store in our little town. So, I don't go often! You did GOOD!!!

I love thrift shopping. I purchased a black overcoat that was like new for only $10. I am very careful about the shoes I buy. I have found so many new things with tags at thrift stores for a fraction of their original price.
