pantry before & after

Here it was- those bulky doors just got in the way.....

....so we took them off! Then I cleared out all the junk and contact paper from the wall....

Wow- it was a mess- who knew we had so much stuff in there?!?!

I painted it green! Shelves and all. I am so happy- it is just so clean. It makes our kitchen seem bigger and it is not an eyesore any longer!

I condensed things in all of the other kitchen cupboards and put the snacks in the lower cupboards so the kids can get it themselves. Now the pantry holds little used bowls and serving stuff- and kid activities- the stuff I want to grab for the preschool (class of one) while the boys are doing their school work.

All those little things needed a space: the chalk, the sea shells, the markers.....

The cookie cutters- (use for cookie making, play dough, and to trace)

My FaVorite: the yard sticks and tape measures on the shelf edges!!!!!!!!!

Bags to stash our hats/mittens/scarves

The rhythm band box- decoupage on plastic- it worked!!!!! I am happy about that........oh the possibilities....

Decoupage on tin cans! This tin was easy to makeover- just paper and mod-podge- fast and easy- covered up the cracker jack guy.

So what do you think? Do you like the before or after better?? I do value your opinion, but I have to say that when my little girl told me it was the most beautiful thing ever I pretty much went to bed a happy momma :)

I.LOVE.IT!!!!! You are so creative! What a very fun space! I love how you decoed so many things! Oh, I have that watermelon bowl! I hug it whenever I bring it out for the summer! :) (Yes, I was looking at all your fun details!)

I love it! I wouldn't have thought of painting the inside green, but it looks great. Love all the colorful containers. I have been keeping all the hats, mittens, etc., in a regular grocery bag, but I love the idea of putting them in a regular bag...and I know just the one!

Looks awesome! Love the green, it looks like such a nice display area now, and who doesn't love to decorate! I can see all sorts of fun holiday decorating going on in there in the future. And if you ever get tired of having it open, you could always tack up some polka dot curtains to the inside. Nice job! :)

WOW! As you know, I'm not a fan of green, but I LOVE the way this looks, especially framed with the chalkboard walls! Good job, Sara!

I love it but, it didn't help me with my problem. I don't want to see my washer and dryer! Have to find something else to do

LOOOVE IT!!! You definitely need to submit this to a magazine. It looks like you have a custom built in hutch in your kitchen! I'm envious that you have enough cupboards to stash all your food. My pantry is so crammed full I can't imagine relocating everything. But if I could, I would totally paint all my shelves green and go find me some super snappy polka dotted bowls to keep in there! :)

I love your bag idea for the scarves and mittens. IF you find that the floor area begins to "stack up" a bit (not that the floors of your house would have anything in common with my floors) you could make a really cute "skirt" out of some bright fabric to hang from your bottom shelf. It would buy you some extra storage space on the floor to hide clutter. (NOT that you have any. I'm speaking from my own illness here.) I have made skirts before just by gathering fabric and attaching it with double sided sticky velcro tape. Just a thought to tuck away for the future. If you ever get clutter. :)

I love all your storage baskets and bins. It makes everything so tidy and accessible. Why don't I have a bucket with seashells sitting on a cute shelf somewhere???

Oh yeah. Because I'm not cute and clever and colorful like Sara. That's why.
