show your brotherly love & tell me what to see in Philly!

We are going to PA soon for a few concerts that Dave will be doing. While there, we will try and do some sightseeing and educational field trip stuff. The liberty bell for sure. We have been told about the Franklin Institute- which we may go to. What do you recommend? Have you been to the Philadelphia area? We will actually be staying in Linwood.

Thanks!

It's been a long time since I've been to Philly, but I know just across the way in Delaware is TAX FREE shopping! I would love some of that about now!

Gino's for sure! You could always stop and see Nate while you're there;-)

I went to Philly when I was 10. I'm sure it has changed a lot, but I still remember the Liberty Bell!

I live in Philly ! Be sure to check out the Liberty Bell, Elfreth's Alley (the old street and home of Betsy Ross), grab a soft pretzel from any vendor while walking around Center City, a cheesesteak from Geno's (but I prefer Pat's across the street from there!)...stroll South Street (grab a slice of Pizza from Lorenzo's) while there...hope this helps some !!

Independence Hall is great. I have not been to Philly but hope to visit some day soon. I love all the history. I just did a post on our latest history field trip.

Don't forget to have a Philly cheesesteak sandwich.

I've never been, but I bet you guys have a great adventure. Safe travels and take lots of pictures (I'm guessing you will do that)!!

Sara -- the roads getting into Philly are always tricky, but once you get into the city, it's a perfect grid. Independence Hall is great and it's directly across from the Liberty Bell. I highly recommend that you get a Philly Chicken Cheesesteak with mushrooms. I almost forgot -- you have to go to Betsy Ross's house. It's adorable.

Can you tell that I'm from Pennsylvania?!

What church will you guys be at? I grew up not too far from Philly! The Art museum is free on Sundays so that's always a good choice :) The Reading Terminal Market is always interesting- it's kind-of like an inside farmers market and they have great places to eat!! Gino's and Pat's are good- but some of the other places are better- just depends what type of cheesesteak you want :) Enjoy your time!
