First off- you need to check out this singer- he now does music videos- and he is awesome...........:)
My heart is so very full right now. We have had so many wonderful things going on at church. Great things. First of all - we are reading this book in our ladies book club, Because He Loves Me by Elyse Fitzpatrick. Wow- what a great book- all about Jesus and what He has done for us. Really focusing on the Gospel and what it means to us on a daily basis. Focus on that- and your problems will go away!!! The problems may not go away- but your perspective will change.
I am so glad I went to the book club meeting. I was halfheartedly reading the book- trying to keep up - it is when I went to the meeting and heard Nancy talk about the book (our pastor's wife) and then heard E. Fitzpatrick talk on a DVD about the content- that is when things started to click for me.
One of the things that really struck me was when she talked about how she used to think that when she gets to heaven she will just sort of stand in the back and just be glad that she "scraped" in. Sort of the one with the dunce cap. I can totally relate to this! But this is not how it is! God looks at us as He looks at Christ! We are hidden in Christ. He looks at us as if we have never sinned!! We do not need to cower and feel like we need to be afraid of the wrath of God, because if we are a child of God's (if we have accepted his gift of His son dying on the cross to take on our sins, so that we can be forgiven)- He does not have any wrath for us! He has only grace and forgiveness!!!
We also had our annual Ladies Trash to Treasure outing. This is where we go to a local park and sit under a pavilion. We bring soups and chili and rolls and coffee and donuts. We also bring something from home that we want to get rid of. Then we do the game where you take a number and the first person gets to open a "treasure" (one person's trash....etc) the next person either can steal that present or open another. This is always very fun. I love this fall outing that we do every year. This year Lydia spoke about the whole adoption process that they have gone through as a family. What a blessing that was. You can see more about sweet Mira here.
Anyway- there has been a lot of good stuff going on here. We are constantly being encouraged and convicted in our Christian life. Today's message from our pastor in the morning service was a reminder that prayer is an incredible ministry. We took time to remember the many prayer requests that God has answered in the last year. Amazing. We serve a mighty God. We need to take time to pray for others- like Paul when he says that he is constantly in prayer for the other believers- (some of whom he had not even met).
Hope you have had a good weekend. I hope that you are being challenged in your Christian walk as well.
