celebrateORANGE

Today for story time we read all about pumpkins, how they grow, etc. It just so happened that I had been looking through an old Kraft cooking magazine and saw some chocolate truffles....one thing led to another and we decided to try pumpkin chocolate truffles. We followed the recipe except used the orange candy coating I have on hand- with pretzels for the stem and green candy coating for the little curly vines.

We decided these pumpkins are the ones we saw in the book that had bumps....

our orange lunch

mmmmm, sweet & salty with the pretzel....next time should we try to add real pumpkin to the truffle mix???

chocolate truffles
MELT 8 squares semi sweet chocolate
BEAT 1 pkg cream cheese until creamy
blend in the chocolate
refrig until firm
shape into 36 balls

melt chocolate (or orange candy coating), use fork to dip truffles. Decorate.

I love the bumpy, ugly pumpkins and gourds. They are my favorite. The more bumpy and odd shaped the more I love them.

these truffles sound so good, i'm thinking that i probably wouldn't even take the time to form them into balls.....how about eating them straight out of the bowl?!!

you always do the most wonderful things with your kids....even your orange lunch is fun! what great memories they'll have!!
