fall stuff

::::fall faVoriteS::::

[1] sweaters, hats, jackets, jeans, tights, knee socks.....

[2] Soup!!- chicken tortilla soup from Red Robin (and also this chili)

[3] fall colors- red&orange&BroWn&green

[4]stores to find fall stuff - Goodwill, Target, pier 1, world Market, archivers, TJ Maxx, Michaels.

[5]decorating the mantle....wishing I had the time to paint the mantle- the aqua just isn't the best for fall- how about orange and dark red? (sometimes I miss the white mantle....). I am not being very content am I? What would I say to the kids? "Think of the people who don't even have a mantle!"
What color combo would you use to paint this mantle? How about purple? No, I would not paint it purple, but I got a free quart of purple in the mail from Glidden- why did I pick purple, I keep asking myself.

What a cozy time of year! I have even started to drink tea- mom- your dream has come true! Hope you have a great Monday evening. It is painting night for me, so I am HaPpY!!!!!

You should check out Target's Halloween decorations this year. They are using bright colors and aqua is one of them!

I love your mantel in its current aqua stage. The hottest trend in fabric right now is aqua and red, I think you need to add more red to your fall decor. Maybe a garland of red leaves or berries. And maybe some black crows or brown acorns would warm it up a bit. I'm sure you can make the aqua work! Have fun!!

I love the changing of the seasons. When I use to be a florist I loved when we changed to fall arrangments. The best was little pumkins that we hallowed out and used as a vase.

I think your mantle should be red. or Rusty Red color! But, then you would have to paint it again in the spring!

The skirt in the first picture!!- my daughter has it, too, and I LOVE it.

Gotta ask: How on earth do you keep your home so picture-ready?? It always looks fantastic. I'm lucky if my dishes are done (they aren't right now.)

That tortilla soup looks very appetizing right now. All it needs is an avocado beside it.

And your mantle, as always, looks fantastic. It's a great centerpiece!

I have 2 thought for the mantel:

1.Paint it red - you could make that light and springy with lots of yellow or white or light blue or green accessories in the spring and dark and cozy with fallish things later in the yr. I think red is always a good choice - Have you ever stopped to think about how many of our holidays have red as one of its colors?

2. On the other hand, black would look really nice too. A great backdrop and neutral for all your colorful things to pop against. It would blend with the actual working parts of the fireplace putting the focus on what is on the top, and it would complement the black in the kitchen and hallway...

I too love your house - so colorful! Love the blog and its bright cheerful spirit. :)
Have a great day in the Lord!

Oh goody, Sara! You are drinking tea! Can't wait until we can have some together, but I don't know when that will be...

I happen to like the aqua mantle. I also noticed that some spelled it mantle and some mantel, so I had to find out what was right. Both are! Everybody's right!

batik or tye-dye with all your favorite colors, that would be cool for the mantle...but would it match the floor?

Sara!!!!!!! I am finally - once again, now that my life is getting back to normal (is there a normal???) - catching up on my blogs and of course I've saved the best for last! But it's taken me 2 days just to GET to yours! LOL!

Cozy, cozy, cozy! I am soooooo ready to be cozy! Oh if these 100 degree days would ever end I would be oh so happy! Being away at the beach was such a treat - I am such a mountain girl... I need to be in a place where there are "real" seasons. I will live vicariously through you in the meantime! LOL!
