how to turn plain t-shirts into patchy red, white, & blue happiness

#1 Find t-shirts on sale at Target

#2- use heat n' bond to attach fabric to shirt in shape of a flag- sew on some black thread......add polka dots when you accidentally tear a hole.
#3 Find a 3 year old who is absolutely thrilled to wear anything new and colorful.

#4 attach more fabric and sew on more black thread...try to keep in line with using only red, white, & blue...add a little black (I think it needs some green and orange....)

#5 Make lots of mistakes and learn lots of lessons and have lots of fun mixed with some frustration....

#6 try and keep the stitches to the fabric patches and not the t-shirt only to ensure no more tears! (that could be interpreted "tears" or "tears" - how appropriate that they would be spelled the same- tear a shirt and you will be near tears :)

#7 wear the shirt happily and know that the next one you make will be much better!
Happy 4th of July!!!!!
We went to a fireworks display last night and waved our flags and enjoyed patriotic music and wore the colors. It is more fun to watch the kids watching the fireworks at this point. Tonight will be hot dogs on the grill & ice cream. Hope you have a great day celebrating our Independence and freedom. (and answering questions from your kids such as- When does China celebrate July 4th?? :)
