I Need Help...and a Change in the Palette

Usually a painting is inspired by a quote or a verse. This painting, however, was more about the design and colors. So now it seems that I cannot think of the perfect verse....every verse that I think of is just a little too long. I want something short and to the point. Something that you can look at everyday and be inspired to be like Christ, or encourage you to keep on for the Lord. (hmmmm..."keep on for the Lord"...???) Anyway, I would take any suggestions that you might have....and here is the bonus-- if I use your suggestion, I will send you a print of your choice in the mail.
The fall palette has changed into a spring one?? I am working on a special painting of the verse Phil 4:8- a great subject!!! Think on what is TRUE, LOVELY, etc. What a good reminder to have on the wall. This is for a friend and has been a fun project. Sarah gets EXTRA brownie points because she gave me a pillowcase to match the colors to. I have enjoyed the lilacs and sages.

We have been using the "Sing the Word" CD's in our praise and worship time(in school). The first song is one about Psalm 103, and I love the verse where it says, ..... "He satisfies our years with good things." (New American Standard Bible)

I totally agree! I think our kids have very similar personalities. I was even mentioning this to my Hubby the other night.

love Fifi

A verse that comes to mind is "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee" (Psalm 56:3), as I recently printed this out for my boys. Perhaps it could be shortened to "I will trust in thee" or "I will trust in God." I like this verse because the essence of faith is trust in God.

I just thought of another verse: "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thes. 5:17) is great and short! It would be a good reminder to see everyday. :)

Psalm 147:1b...Sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.

I also think of Psalm 16:6a, "The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places." And, actually, almost any snippet from the rest of that passage.

Since you are using Phil 4:8 which is my favorite verse number one...I will suggest favorite verse number two.

The horse is prepared for the day of battle. But victory is the Lord's!

This is the day that the Lord hath made (we will rejoice and be glad in it)

OK - Just thought of 2 more... again in KJV...

Gen. 16:13b "Thou God seest me"

Psalm 46:10a "Be still and know that I am God."

How about "Seek ye first the kingdom of God" or "Let all that I am praise the Lord!" Psalm 104

Also, John 15 is the parable of the vine and the branches, and might go along with the painting. Here are two possibilities within that chapter: vs.5- I am the vine, ye are the branches vs.16- Go and bring forth fruit.

You look so good Sara! It has been so long since I have seen you. Anyways, the verse that keeps coming to my mind is a little long but perhaps you could shorten it somehow.
Ephesians 4:1
...Walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.

If I had it in my kitchen I would use "oh taste and see that the Lord is good!

You know those country signs you see all the time that say, "Live long, laugh often, love much"? I made up my own Christian version of that a while ago but never figured out how to put it on my wall. "Love God, Rejoice Always, Live Forever." I think that pretty much sums it up. :)

Well, the thing that comes to mind for me is "Be strong in the Lord." (Based on Joshua 1:9, also also the lyrics to a song.)

I had been wondering if you would take suggestions. I'll let you know if I have any other ideas! :)

Hey sara I love the canvas! Love the flowers:) I like the first girls comment about satisfying our years.... I also have a verse that I meditate constantly on and it is Prov. 12:18 There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health. The last part, the tongue of the wise promotes health. I need that before my eyes everyday:) Barb

Oooo, I like Barb's verse. I constantly think upon the Psalm "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my Strength and my Redeemer." Necessary for everyday life but especially with young 'uns constantly underfoot ;)

Oh my goodness! I am so inspired!!! Thank you - keep 'em coming!!! I will have to use several of them in the future too...sorry that I can only give away one print (my business partner probably wouldn't allow more than that- he is so stingy with the mincymedia budget!!!!) HAha...no- he is the brains behind it all, and I am thankful...and I guess stingy isn't quite the word to use when he has funded ALL of my endeavors :)

Anyway, I love the scripture...it is good just to read it in the comments- it has power in our lives!

This isn't a verse, but we have a sign downstairs that says, "Thou shalt not whine." The kids like it, and it keeps us from whining. :)

I received my order of cards in the mail today. They look great! As I glanced at the envelope, I could immediately tell they were from you, as your writing is very artsy. Thanks!

I love all of those verses. Especially the "What time I am afraid I will trust in Thee" Psalm 56:3. My Mom would always say that to us because when said with the verse first and then the reference it rhymed. We say it to Ella every night.
I love Psalm 91:2
"He is my refuge and my fortress"
Psalm 92:5
"O Lord, how great are Your works!"
I'm trying to find the reference:
"He knoweth them that trust in Him"
Have a great day!!!!

Sar -- I know I'm late, lots of people have chimed in, but here's my vote:

"Boast only in the Cross" from Galatians 5. My sister made us a lovely painting with that verse (at our request). So simple and yet so thought provoking. I am consistently challenged when I see it. It goes so well with something like artwork that by its own merit DOES display your own work of creation. This keeps us humble, reminding us WHO our talent is from and for (which I know is your desire and WHY you make your prints with verses!)

Well, this time of year (autumn) – when the green luscious leaves have all changed to their short-lived glorious colors, only to fade, die and be re-birthed in springtime… I can only come up with Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

Or – maybe it’s because I am trying to find the good in the changes of season? It is getting too cold for me and we have such long winters in Wisconsin! Change is good but 6 months of being cold is a very long time for this winter-wimp! So, I need little nuggets of truth before me – to remind me that there is beauty in His timing – all facets of His timing. This – in turn – makes me thankful. Thankfulness reminds me of Thanksgiving and autumn and … get the connection?

Ok – so my brain is warped (ha-ha).

Best wishes and I can’t wait to see the finished end result!

This morning in Sunday School, our pastor read Matthew 1:23, about "Emmanuel...God with us." That's one of my favorite names of God, as it comforts me to know that God is with us (who can stand against us?). The verse reminds me of Christmas too.

I am also late ( I haven't been able to check your blog in a few days....) but here's my verses:
a verse that always encourages me to keep the right perspective is "Set your mind on things above...."Col.3:2a. Also, an awesome reminder of how we are able to keep on in the Christian walk-- "The Lord is my strength and my song...."Ps.118:14a
I love the colors on the one you are holding!!! Have fun :-)

okay. . .I don't think that this little snippet would be the best for that painting. . . but I love the following phrase from a song. . ."there are Sovereign Hands holding all my days". . .I just love thinking about that. . .can I commission my own painting;) !!
